Summer Camp 2018 Schedule

Week #1
June 11 – 16, 2018

All Things Mulberry! (K-6th)

Welcome to Mulberry Summer Camp! By popular demand, we will be starting camp a week earlier this year. Your camper will get to hang out with Miles and Ian in the Extended Care Hub and will spend plenty of time outside as well. This week’s campers will be the first to experience our new Game Room! This camp is a little different than our “themed” camps: campers will be able to explore a wider range of activities that they help to create. So, whether they choose sports, a trip to Belgatos Park for a science hike, or an afternoon Friday movie (on site), this camp will surely appeal to a wide variety of campers. Please note: this camp will include Kinders through 6th graders, and will have the feel of our Extended Care program. Our themed camps begin the following week. Extended Care (8:00-9:30, 2:30-6:00) is available additionally.

Week #2
June 18 – 22, 2018

American Girl Internationale! (JK-K)

A slightly new take on one of our most popular girl camps (although boys are always welcomed!). Campers will “travel the world” with their dolls, learning about other cultures while sewing doll clothes, having tea parties, and walking the fashion runway with their friends. They may also bring Paddington Bear or Peter Rabbit to join in the fun! If they wish, campers may join in this week’s “extras”: the tidal touch pool and Happy Hollow visiting animals. And of course, our new Game Room will be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke.

Animal Planet (JK-2nd)

Does your camper love all kinds of animals? This camp will be right up their alley! Based on the popular television network, this camp exposes your camper to the many wonders of the animal kingdom. This year Happy Hollow Park & Zoo will be bringing in animals for your campers to get acquainted with. We will also have an on-site tidal touch pool for campers to explore. Of course, our new Game Room will also be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke.

Week #3
June 25 – 29, 2018

Fairies, Dragons, Princesses, and Knights (JK-2nd)

Become a fearless knight, a magical fairy, a spectacular dragon, or a fabulous princess. Learn about fairy-tale lore, build a castle, make fairy wings, dance, and use your wildest imagination to create the most fun fantasy camp around! This week’s special: A Bounce House!!

Roxaboxen (1st-3rd)

Without a doubt, this unique Mulberry camp is a runaway classic and yearly favorite of our campers and counselors. It is based on the book Roxaboxen, by Alice McLerran and Barbara Cooney, which tells the fictional story of an Arizona town made completely by children from boxes, rocks, and fantasy. We bring the book to life on our campus as children build homes, open businesses, and work through the dilemmas of city management, entirely from their own imagination! Every year brings new twists on the old Roxaboxen magic. Roxaboxen will be held in Mulberry’s Preschool building and yard, and your campers will make their village together with the 3rd-6th grade Roxaboxen camp. Teachers Cassie and Trish have decided to join in to be this year’s mayors!

Week #4
July 9 – 13, 2018

Water, Sand, and Dirt (JK-2nd)

Only at Camp Mulberry would one of our most popular camps be named “Water, Sand, & Dirt.” After all, what better way is there to spend a hot summer week than by building sandcastles and waterways, floating boats, making mud-pies, and running in the sprinklers? If it involves using water, sand, and/or dirt, you can bet it will happen this week. Oh, yeah, and we also learn a lot about earth science while we’re playing!

Extreme Chefs Jr. (1st-3rd)

Campers will hang out in the kitchen creating amazing cuisine masterpieces. They will also venture outside to our garden to experience first hand where many of our foods originate. And we’ll have a “Jr. Chopped” day where campers will create their own creations from pre-selected ingredients. Campers will also join in this week’s specials: Inflatables Laser Tag and the Planetarium. And of course, our new Game Room will be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke. Please note: This camp will be nut free but may include dairy, gluten, and soy.

The Last Jedi Star Wars! (1st-3rd)

The force is strong with this one. This camp will give fans an opportunity to spend the week immersed in all things Star Wars. Jedi Knights and Stormtroopers will work together to create a ship and travel through hyperspace on their own Star Wars mission. The only limit is their imagination. Maybe they’ll be inspired to write the next sequel or spin-off! Campers are encouraged to wear and make costumes during the week. We’ll have plenty of materials on hand for crafting the latest space gear. This week’s specials are Inflatables Laser Tag and the Planetarium. Of course, our new Game Room will be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke.

Week #5
July 16 – 20, 2018

Pirate Jr. (JK-K)

Since everyone has a little pirate in them, we’ve created Pirate Jr., a younger version of our Pirate camp for our early elementary swashbucklers. Dig for gold, make a treasure map, cook real hardtack for your crew, and be captain of your own ship! You may want to adopt a parrot and visit “Ye Olde Tattoo Shoppe” to create your own pirate look, or you can spend time burying treasure and creating a map so your mates can find it.

Pirates, the Caribbean, and More! (1st-3rd)

No summer would be complete at Mulberry Summer Camp without Pirates, the Caribbean, and more! Come join yer fellow pirates as we sail the Mulberry Seas in a fun-filled week of treasure hunting, map making, and swashbuckling. In quieter moments you might eat a lime, adopt a parrot, or just sing some salty songs. Pirate Camp is not for the weak of heart; the Great Bloody Battle will take place with the whole crew, so prepare yerself to take on your mates. Aargh! Parents – there may be 15 -20 minutes of screen clips from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean playing in the morning, or as kids return from lunch. All clips will be suitable for all audiences

Week #6
July 23 – 27, 2018

Coco, Miguel, & More! (JK-2nd)

By popular demand, we have created this amazingly fun camp based on last year’s blockbuster movie Coco. This camp is guaranteed to be a classic as your camper will be immersed in the foods, music, and arts of Mexico, while having so much fun. They may even learn a bit of guitar and some Spanish phrases. Come join us and experience the magic again!

Mulberry’s Got Talent! (1st-3rd)

Come join Teacher Cassie and Teacher Trish for an amazing week of Talent Show antics! This camp is guaranteed to be the most exciting camp your child may ever experience. No worries if your camper may be on the hesitant side. Cassie and Trish will be sure to put them at ease within the first few minutes of camp. And if your camper does not wish to perform, there are plenty of other things to do behind the camera. (Although we have a hunch that your child may just end up performing and loving it!) This week’s special is Inflatables Laser Tag. Of course, our new Game Room will be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke.

Minecraft IRL (1st-3rd)

Back by popular demand in our Preschool Yard! Do your children talk all day about creepers? Are there strange green and brown boxes floating through their dreams? Is your laptop regularly impressed into exploring the world’s most popular sandbox game? Do you know the difference between creative, adventure, and survival modes, quite against your will? Then your child will love our Minecraft camp, and you will love that they are bringing their passion for the game into imaginative, real-world play.

Our JK camp is taught by our very own Teacher Debi and provide safe, play-based environments for our youngest campers to enjoy new friends and have fun in new ways every day.

Dinosaur Days with Teacher Jennifer (JK/K)

Fascinated by colossal fossils? Is there a T-Rex model under your car seat? Do pterodactyl books litter your floor, and do you snuggle up with your stuffed triceratops every night? Or have you always wondered about those giants of our planet’s past without delving too deep into the history? Then this camp is for you.
