Summer Camp 2019 Schedule

Week #1
June 10 – 15, 2019

All Things Mulberry! (K-6th)

Welcome to Mulberry Summer Camp! Back by popular demand we are once again starting camp a week earlier this year. Your camper will get to hang out in the Extended Care and will spend plenty of time outside as well. This camp is a little different than our “themed” camps: Campers will be able to explore a wider range of activities that they help to create. So, whether they choose sports, a trip to Belgatos Park for a science hike, or an afternoon Friday movie (on site), this camp will surely appeal to a wide variety of campers. Please note: this camp will include Kinders through 6th graders, and will have the feel of our Extended Care program. Our themed camps begin the following week. Additionally, Extended Care (8:00-9:30, 2:30-6:00) is available.

Week #2
June 17 – 21, 2019

Animal Planet (JK-2nd)

Does your camper love all kinds of animals? This camp will be right up their alley! Based on the popular television network, this camp exposes your camper to the many wonders of the animal kingdom. This year Happy Hollow Park & Zoo will be bringing in animals for your campers to get acquainted with. We will also have an on-site tidal touch pool for campers to explore. Of course, our new Game Room will also be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke.

Week #3
June 24 – 28, 2019

Fairies, Dragons, Princesses, and Knights (JK-2nd)

Become a fearless knight, a magical fairy, a spectacular dragon, or a fabulous princess. Learn about fairy-tale lore, build a castle, make fairy wings, dance, and use your wildest imagination to create the most fun fantasy camp around! This week’s special: A Bounce House!!

Roxaboxen (1st-3rd)

Without a doubt, this unique Mulberry camp is a runaway classic and yearly favorite of our campers and counselors. It is based on the book Roxaboxen, by Alice McLerran and Barbara Cooney, which tells the fictional story of an Arizona town made completely by children from boxes, rocks, and fantasy. We bring the book to life on our campus as children build homes, open businesses, and work through the dilemmas of city management, entirely from their own imagination! Every year brings new twists on the old Roxaboxen magic. Roxaboxen will be held in Mulberry’s Preschool building and yard, and your campers will make their village together with the 3rd-6th grade Roxaboxen camp. Teacher Cassie has decided to join in again to be this year’s mayor!

Water, Sand, and Dirt (JK-2nd)

Only at Camp Mulberry would one of our most popular camps be named “Water, Sand, & Dirt.” After all, what better way is there to spend a hot summer week than by building sandcastles and waterways, floating boats, making mud-pies, and running in the sprinklers? If it involves using water, sand, and/or dirt, you can bet it will happen this week. Oh, yeah, and we also learn a lot about earth science while we’re playing!

Extreme Chefs Jr. (1st-3rd)

Campers will hang out in the kitchen creating amazing cuisine masterpieces. They will also venture outside to our garden to experience firsthand where many of our foods originate. And we’ll have a “Jr. Chopped” day where campers will create their own creations from pre-selected ingredients. Campers will also join in this week’s specials: Inflatables Laser Tag and the Planetarium. And of course, our new Game Room will be open during special times and will include air hockey, pool, foosball, and karaoke. Please note: This camp will be nut free but may include dairy, gluten, and soy.

Outdoor Nature Connection Experiences! (1st-3rd)

Have you cooked bread over a fire or constructed your very own creation using a hammer, nails and wood? Get messy this summer by exploring ways to move water with different odds and ends; or even by digging in a dirt pit! Join us for adventure walks, creative nature inspired art exploration,  moments for mindfulness, and so much more.  Enrich your camper’s connection with nature this summer while having loads of fun!

Pirate Jr. (JK-K)

Since everyone has a little pirate in them, we’ve created Pirate Jr., a younger version of our Pirate camp for our early elementary swashbucklers. Dig for gold, make a treasure map, cook real hardtack for your crew, and be captain of your own ship! You may want to adopt a parrot and visit “Ye Olde Tattoo Shoppe” to create your own pirate look, or you can spend time burying treasure and creating a map so your mates can find it.

Pirates, the Caribbean, and More! (1st-3rd)

No summer would be complete at Mulberry Summer Camp without Pirates, the Caribbean, and more! Come join yer fellow pirates as we sail the Mulberry Seas in a fun-filled week of treasure hunting, map making, and swashbuckling. In quieter moments you might eat a lime, adopt a parrot, or just sing some salty songs. Pirate Camp is not for the weak of heart; the Great Bloody Battle will take place with the whole crew, so prepare yerself to take on your mates. Aargh! Parents – there may be 15 -20 minutes of screen clips from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean playing in the morning, or as kids return from lunch. All clips will be suitable for all audiences

Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts (3rd-6th)

Calling all young witches and wizards! Do you have what it takes to learn Potions? Are you ready for daily Quidditch practice? Do you know your spellbook forwards and back? Then join us for a week of wand making, Potions classes, Herbology lessons, Ancient Runes, and Care of Magical Creatures! Come prepared to leave behind Muggle life and immerse yourself in the magical world of Harry Potter!

Camp Slime-Tastic (1st-3rd)

Join Gigi and become a master at making slime! In this camp you will learn to experiment with all textures and types of slime, and learn how using different ingredients and materials will result in a different outcome. By the end of this camp you will have brought home daily slimes and become a master in making slime on your own at home.

Jumpin’ into Junior Kindergarten!

Every day is an adventure, with surprises around each corner! One day we might be racing our cars or splashing in small pools, and the next building sandcastles or exploring oobleck. Our JK camp is taught by our very own Teacher Debi and provide safe, play-based environments for our youngest campers to enjoy new friends and have fun in new ways every day.

Dinosaur Days! (JK/K)

Fascinated by colossal fossils? Is there a T-Rex model under your car seat? Do pterodactyl books litter your floor, and do you snuggle up with your stuffed triceratops every night? Or have you always wondered about those giants of our planet’s past without delving too deep into the history? Then this camp is for you. Join Teacher Jennifer and explore the world of dinosaurs all week long.

Movie Making (1st-3rd)

It’s “Lights, Camera, Action!” at Mulberry Summer Camp! Campers will be exposed to writing, directing, cinematography, editing, and production! Artist Studio (1st-3rd)

Are you an artist looking for some studio time this summer? This is the place for you! Geared toward 1st through 3rd graders, we’ve got a week of creation just waiting for you to dive in. We’ll work with string art, ceramics, glass, and all different mediums. We have two kilns where we fire our own ceramic and glass works of art, and enough glue guns and supplies (and, of course, glitter and paint) to create some amazing masterpieces! The only limit is your imagination.
