Emergency Action Plan
The safety and health of our students and community are very important to us. Mulberry has completed this plan in order to organize and facilitate employee, parent, student, and visitor actions during campus emergencies.
Parents:
- Please make sure you have done the following:
Designate who will pick up children and how communication will be handled within your family in the event of an emergency. - Ensure that the designated pick-up person(s) for each child is (are) named on your child’s Emergency Identification Form.
Emergency Notification System:
Mulberry School has contracted with the Parent Alert System through RenWeb to allow for efficient mass communication during emergencies. This system contacts parents through email, voice messaging, and text and provides information specific to an incident, such as type of incident, status, school closure, and student release. The system is updated each year with current family information.
Please resist the urge to call the school in the event of an emergency. Phone lines, if working, will be used to coordinate emergency response and all on-site adults will be working to calm and assist children.
Student Release System:
In the event of an emergency, parents will arrive at Mulberry School and wish to be reunited with their children immediately. Mulberry must maintain accountability for the children and organizational control of the assembly area and site. Therefore, Mulberry will use a system that allows for the release of our students in an orderly manner.
Students will be released to parents at a “Student Release Area” only. This area will be clearly marked by signage. Each student will be walked down to the Student Release Area by a staff member.
The Student Release Areas are:
- the quad area, if safe, or
- the sidewalk by the fifth-grade classroom adjacent to the front parking lot.
Students will be released and signed out at the “Student Release Area” only. Students will be released to parents or designated guardians whose names are on the Emergency Contact Form only. IDs will be checked and verified by Mulberry staff designated to the Student Release Area.
Parents must wait until their child is brought to them. It is vital that the release system be supported and used in order to minimize time being spent searching for children who have been taken by parents without being accounted for.
