Mission Statement

Mulberry School is a community that embraces parent participation, nurtures innovative academics, and builds social confidence.

Parent Participation

With our origins as a parent co-operative school, Mulberry educators have long understood the importance of parent involvement in children's education.  More recently, research has reinforced what has been a foundational concept at Mulberry since our inception: parental involvement in a child's school experience increases positive outcomes for the student, while enhancing the relationship between child and parent as a result of their shared frame of reference.

Mulberry parents are involved in many ways, from acting as a teacher's aide in their child's classroom, to serving on all-school committees, or helping students learn about the environment by assisting in our gardening program. Every parent contributes to our School in invaluable ways, fostering an enriched, supportive educational community for each child.

Innovative Academics

Children learn best in environments that encourage their natural curiosity and foster eagerness to receive new information and concepts.  Mulberry's teachers understand how to educate a range of learning styles through the use of multiple modalities and a hands-on, experiential approach. Ours is a highly creative, integrated curriculum that incorporates the best of educational and brain research into a developmentally appropriate program.

Mulberry students become self-motivated learners who develop excellent academic skills through a program that provides cognitive challenge for each child. Our children become life-long learners, graduating from Mulberry School with an eagerness to do their best no matter how large or small the task set before them.

Social Confidence

Children at Mulberry School are provided daily opportunities for growth in the social and emotional realms through our strong character building program. Concepts such as respect, integrity, shared responsibility and humility are practiced and discussed regularly in class meetings among teachers and children, on the playground when misunderstandings arise, and at every opportunity. At Mulberry, mistakes are opportunities to learn. We understand that children develop social skills and become effective conflict resolvers through constant practice, and we provide a supportive, accepting environment in which children experiment and develop strong pro-social behaviors.

Mulberry students become exceedingly competent and confident in social interactions, displaying leadership among their peers. Our graduates are excellent verbal communicators, able to enter into social exchanges with adults and peers with remarkable ease.
